Earthquakes in Ecuador and Japan

 A massive earthquake struck near the west coast of northern Ecuador on April 16. It had a magnitude of 7.8 on the Richter scale, and was large enough to be felt in the neighboring countries of Peru and Colombia. More than 600 people died, and thousands were injured. Numerous homes, buildings, and roads were destroyed. Lots of people were without electricity. The country’s military and police helped the people affected by the earthquake.
