Most searched, most watched this year

Yahoo put out its list of the most searched terms for 2015, and its number one searched term was “Bobbi Kristina Brown” (an American singer and actress who died in July, and was the daughter of the late singer Whitney Houston). This was followed by “iPhone” (Apple’s phone). The top searched question on Yahoo this year was “How do you tie a tie?” According to Yahoo, this year’s most searched sports moment was Mayweather vs. Pacquiao. Pacquiao (from the Philippines) and Mayweather (from the United States) had a big boxing match in May which was given the name “Fight of the Century”.

Time magazine said that the most powerful commercial for 2015 was Ad Council’s “Love Has No Labels”. According to Time, the most viral video for 2015 was the American First Lady Michelle Obama doing a dance as part of her message for healthy living on a TV show. The magazine picked the thing that broke the Internet to be the image of a dress that went viral and everybody questioned if the dress was blue and black or white and gold.

 

The most-retweeted tweet of 2015 was by Harry Styles, a member of the music band One Direction (based in the United Kingdom), after one of the band members Zayn Malik announced he was leaving the group: “All the love as always. H”. It was retweeted over 700,000 times. Some of the most popular hashtags on Twitter this year were #OneDirection, #iPad, #jobs, and #ArianaGrande. The most used emoji on Twitter was . According to Twitter, some hashtags that defined 2015 were #ParisAttacks (the November attacks in Paris, France), #RefugeesWelcome (millions of people have been displaced from their countries because of war and persecution), #FIFAWWC (FIFA Women’s soccer World Cup in Canada), #PlutoFlyby (New Horizons spacecraft, image, that did a flyby study of the dwarf planet Pluto), and #TheDress (a photo of a dress raised the question if the dress was blue/black or white/gold).

YouTube put out its own video that celebrates the year 2015. According to YouTube, the top advertisement of the year was “Clash of Clans: Revenge (Official Super Bowl TV Commercial)”, followed by “Hyundai : A Message to Space”. The top trending video of the year was “Silento- Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae) by Tianne King”.
