Fighting in Yemen

Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and a few other nations have gotten involved in a fight going on in Yemen. Last year, a rebel group called the Houthis took control of Yemen’s capital city Sanaa and some other parts of the country. They said that the government was dishonest and treated their people unfairly. Earlier this year, the Houthis put Yemen’s president, Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, and some other officials under house arrest. In February, Hadi escaped and went to a city called Aden where he established a temporary capital. Houthi fighters started getting close to Aden. In March, Hadi fled to the neighboring country Saudi Arabia. Now Saudi Arabia and some other nations are trying to push back the Houthis.

Sandstorms are natural hazards in both Yemen and Saudi Arabia. A big sandstorm hit Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, on April 1. You can watch a video here.
