One passenger got extremely upset on December 5 on a Korean Air flight headed from New York, USA to Seoul, South Korea. So upset, that the plane which had left the gate, but hadn’t flown off, returned back to the gate. Heather Cho was livid at the crew for not asking if she wanted macadamia nuts and for serving the nuts in a bag instead of on a plate. She wanted the chief flight attendant off the plane. The pilot brought the plane back, the flight attendant got off, and the plane was back on its way to South Korea.
Would a plane really turn around because somebody got so upset about the way the nuts were served? Cho is one of the vice presidents of Korean Air and is the daughter of the head of the Hanjin Group, which owns Korean Air and other companies. The public in South Korea was very upset by Cho’s behavior and she has resigned from some of her job responsibilities. Some bloggers are calling the incident “going nuts over nuts”.
