World’s 100 most powerful women

Forbes, an American magazine, published its annual list of the “World’s 100 Most Powerful Women”. The number 1 spot went to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, followed by Janet Yellen, the Chair of the American Federal Reserve. You can view the list here. Forbes has been publishing this list since 2004, and Merkel has been in the number one spot 8 times now. The Chancellor is Germany’s head of government. Merkel is 59 years old, and had worked as a scientist before she got into politics. She even has a barbie doll modelled after her.

Forbes also publishes an annual list of the “World’s Most Powerful People”. Its most recent list was published in October of last year, and Merkel held the number 5 spot. The number 1 spot in that list was held by the Russian President Vladimir Putin.
