The oldest known living person in the world, Jiroemon Kimura, from Japan, died on June 12 at the age of 116 years. He had held this title since January. Kimura is the first known man to have lived to 116 years. Misao Okawa, a Japanese woman who currently holds the title of the “oldest living woman”, is now the oldest known living person. Okawa was born on March 5, 1898. The world population has grown by over 5 billion people during Okawa’s lifetime!
