London Marathon 2013

Over 34,000 people took part in the London Marathon which was held in London, United Kingdom on April 21. The men’s race winner was Tsegaye Kebede (from Ethiopia) and the women’s race winner was Priscah Jeptoo (from Kenya). The London Marathon is a race that raises a large sum of money for charities. The race is also famous for people trying to set world records during the race. This year, 23 new Guinness World Records were set. Some of them were for the fastest marathon dressed in a wetsuit, longest scarf knitted while running a marathon, fastest marathon dressed in a full-body animal costume, fastest marathon dribbling a football, and fastest marathon dressed as a shoe.

Did you know?

A Guinness World Record was recently set for the “World’s Smallest Stop-Motion Film” by a movie created by an American company called IBM. Researchers at IBM used atoms to make the movie “A Boy And His Atom”.  The movie had to be magnified 100 million times in order for us to see it. You can watch the movie here.
