Earthquakes in Iran

On April 16, an earthquake of magnitude 7.8 on the Richter scale struck near the town of Khash in southeast Iran. The shaking caused by the earthquake was felt in nearby countries such as Pakistan, India, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. This was one of the highest magnitude earthquakes recorded in Iran. About a week before this earthquake, another earthquake of magnitude 6.3 on the Richter scale had struck in southwest Iran.
