Want a three-day weekend? Time to work in The Gambia. Yahya Jammeh, the president of The Gambia, has officially made the work week four days long for government jobs. This will go into effect on February 1. The work week will be from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Thursday. The president feels the country’s citizens need an extra day to rest, to pray, to meet friends, and to spend time growing their own vegetables.
The Stone Circles of Senegambia lie in two countries, The Gambia and Senegal. They are groups of circles with large stone monuments, around 2 meters (6 feet) in height. The sites were used as burial areas and were built between the 3rd century BC and the 16th century AD. There are over 1,000 large standing stones in the area.
