Robot travels across the Pacific

A PacX Wave Glider, a marine robot that uses energy from waves and the sun to power up and keep going, recently made its way to Australia. On November 17, 2011, the Glider left San Francisco, USA, and swam over 9,000 nautical miles (16,668km) over the Pacific Ocean. Along its way, the Glider gathered and transmitted data about the waters it traveled in. It was built by an American company called Liquid Robotics.
