Strikes and clashes in Europe

On November 14, workers held strikes and/or protests in several countries across Europe, including Portugal, Germany, Spain, Greece, Italy, Belgium, France, and the United Kingdom. In some cities, the protesters and the police got into a fight. Businesses, schools, and shops were shut down in a few cities. Many flights across Europe were cancelled.
The protesters are unhappy with their country’s government and some of its policies. Some governments in Europe are trying to reduce their spending, and in the process have cut jobs, salaries, and pensions. Some have raised taxes too. This has been financially very difficult for the citizens who have been impacted.
