Paintings stolen

On October 16, seven very precious paintings (including paintings by Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, Paul Gauguin, and Henri Matisse)  were stolen from a museum in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. One of the stolen paintings is Monet’s “Waterloo Bridge, London”. The paintings are estimated to be worth more than US$100 million. While the thieves have gotten away with the paintings, we probably won’t be seeing them for sale on eBay or anywhere else. The paintings are very widely recognized, and will not be easy to sell.
Two years ago, five famous paintings were stolen from a museum in Paris, France, and still haven’t been found. One of the biggest art robberies was 22 years ago in Boston, U.S.A., when 13 paintings worth hundreds of millions of dollars were stolen. None of them have been found.
